A resident of Sheridan, Wyoming, she must investigate the connection between a killer who recently broke out of jail, a deadly plane crash in the Big Horn Mountains, and a baseball game with lethal repercussions that occurred at the Wyoming State Penitentiary near the beginning of the 20th century. What do all of these events have to do with each other? Could there be a secret society operating under Mary’s nose that holds all the answers? She’d better figure it out fast because the danger is mounting with each passing moment.
Prison Break, by Maureen Anne Meehan, is a novel that deftly combines mystery and suspense. It’s somewhat reminiscent of works by Michael Connelly and James Patterson. The pacing is brisk, and the dialogue does an excellent job of fleshing out the characters, particularly Mary, the spunky protagonist.
